FreeRideMX has been super busy working for other companies inside and outside of the motocross industry! We also have been fortunate enough to work in our field of expertise, Free Riding Dirt Bikes and the Filming of  these rare wild animals.

So who have we been working for and what have we been up to? Early this year it was Red Bull for the Renner Road to X Fighters Film trip. We fully produced 4 short webisodes to tell the history of FMX and where it came from, FreeRiding in the Deserts of So Cal. On the crew this time, I chose to bring along Kyle Cowling as my 2nd Camera on this project. He has a unique style with his videos and figured we would work good together. I was right.

The first stop was Ocotillo Wells the original spot where tricks were first preformed for videos. Setting up interviews at my favorite camp spot in all of  Ocotillo and with a crew of super talented riders, this trip was awesome. Mudhills galore, battles between the Renner Brothers, Brody Wilson doing Backflips, and NEW jumps found and JUMPED! Consider this little video just a preview:

Then off to Superstition we went. Kendall Norman loves racing the Desert but isn’t a fan of Superstition. I think he faked it pretty well and still had a blast! Dustin Nowack made the trip and was riding good and Yet again Ronnie’s little Brother was on a mission to find some jumps, Ricky absolutely kills it FreeRiding, very motivated and on top of it! Tom Parsons and Ricky snuck off to find some jumps and ended up finishing up Superstition with a booter double throwing some big whippers:

The last of the FreeRide locations was the classic Glamis Sand Dunes, The whole crew was here for this one, and even OG FMX rider John Distler came out to hit some big floater jumps, One of my favorite stops Glamis:

MEXICO CITY (MEX). A huge 42,000-strong crowd packed the arena to cheer on the twelve FMX toreros on their high-octane steeds as they flew through the largest bullfighting ring in the world. On kickers catapulting the athletes 15 metres into the air, the best riders on the planet – including Corinth Canal and Tower Bridge hero, Robbie Maddison (AUS) – showcased the very latest freestyle motocross tricks. The first stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters 10th anniversary year saw a Norwegian rider win an event for the first time. Andre Villa benefitted from freak weather conditions including torrential rain and lightning to take the win after the competition had to be abandoned after the first round. “I have trained hard my whole life and made so many sacrifices for this,” explained the delighted 27- year-old. The remaining spots on the podium went to reigning World Tour Champion Nate Adams (USA) and Robbie Maddison (AUS), with Spain’s Dany Torres taking fourth place despite being forced to land his tricks with just one hand due to a fractured wrist. Nate Adams (USA) had warm words of congratulation for the victor: “Andre deserved to win here. When it comes to open-air sport, you have to live with the weather conditions. The heavy rain meant the landing hill was very slippery. I think the decision to abandon the competition was the right one.”

In just a few weeks time, on 14 May 2010, the Red Bull X-Fighters will get their chance for revenge at the second World Tour stop directly in front of the world-famous Sphinx in Giza, Egypt. Further stops in Moscow (RUS), Madrid (ESP), London (GBR) and Rome (ITA) complete the World Tour 2010.

I went up to the RED BULL compound to ride, and do some filming with Heath Frisby doing some new tricks into the foam pit on his snow mobile. I know, southern cali on a snow mobile? HA! But Frisby has some crazy tricks lined out for winter x-games 2010! Anyway I ended up riding my dirt bike more than filming the FMX machines, but still came up with a couple good shots of my buddies Drake McElroy and Keith Sayers riding the red bull freestyle motocross course.
